Actually this coin is a little too crusty for me. Gray is a good color for old silver. Black can indicate a number of things, and some them of them are bad:

 

- It's been through a fire

- The toning has reached the point where it is pitting the surfaces

- It's been recolored, and sometimes the recoloring stuff is a joke ... like shoe polish.

 

No there is good crusty and bad crusty, and given the lack of picture quality here, I'd be inclined to pass.
