WTB: China Pandas

8 posts in this topic

i have a 1998 china s5y panda ngc ms67

The 5Y (!/2 ounce) silver pandas have shown very little demand from collectors. In raw form they don't generate much interest and graded at a 67 they would be even less desireable. I'd recommend you just keep it as an interesting addition to your collection.

The rule of thumb I use, is that a Panda graded by NGC at 68 is worth about what the corresponding raw coin would sell for (if it were still in the orginal packaging).

Grades of 69 can go anywhere from 50 - 100% over the raw price with the more modern ones worth less.

Any 70's prior to 2002 are very valuable. I saw a 2001 MS 70 sell for $450. The 69 would sell for maybe $50-$60.
