Platinum Canadian Coins

2 posts in this topic

I received a letter from the Canadian Mint advising me of a opportunity to buy a complete set of the Walrus Platinum Proof Set. It is just over $2100. The letter states that orders will only be taken till the end of this month and a maximun limit of 700 sets. If 700 sets are not ordered then only the amount of sets ordered will be the total mintage. Is this a good deal? Are they minting single units of these coins so the total population will be well over 700?

Any purchase from the larger modern mints, Canadian, British, US, usually do not appreciate with time. A few coins do go up in value, but generally they fall in value, especially two years or more aftermarket. If you have an interest, you might wait a while for the aftermarket.
