1901 Indian Head Cent doubling?

I have been looking at a recent purchase 1901 Indian Head Cent AU BN.

 

I noticed that the O N E C E of one cent are somewhat doubled. The wreath and shield show no doubling. Is this normal?

This might be what is quite often termed mechanical doubling, machine doubling or Longacre doubling in the case of IHCs. If this is the case, then it is very common and typically commands no premium.

Thanks. I googled mechanical doubling, machine doubling or Longacre doubling and looked at some of the picts. It does look like MDD. Cheers Jason
