NEWP 1808 Bustie-Grade Thoughts-Overton-Big Pics

7 posts in this topic

This one happily arrived today, so how about a Friday Bustie show and tell. I am providing 2 light angles to show off the color of the coin a bit. This one has some nice original crust. Let me know what you think this should have for a grade, and the Overton should be very easy.

Good looking!!! I would call it a VF 25 to 30. Overton should be 107 based on what I recall (book is at home) about I to T relationship on reverse.
Good call from memory. I think it makes the O-107a die state.

Pretty strong details. NGC/ANACS should go VF30.

OK. This coin was in an ANACS VF-30 holder, and I believe properly graded. When I learn to capture toning, I need to post some pics of the gasoline-on-water toning this one has.

It is an O-107A variety, and anyone that knows the 1808s knows about this die crack across the top of the head from the star 5 at left to star 8 at right.

For this moment, it is now my favorite coin.
