I remember in the early 70s going to a parade to honor the safe return of one of our home town astronauts, Haise. During the parade Haise threw these trinkets out to the crowd. They're made out of some type of gold anodized aluminum from what I can tell, similar to a Mardi Gras dubloon.

Just thought I would share.

I wonder if they will make a medal for the Astro-NUT that drove to Florida in diapers to kidnap her romantic rival... the possibilites for designs are almost endless. screwy.gif

I've seen this medal before. Apparently there is an entire series of them.
