Rarity Scales

Could someone straighten me out on the rarity scales?

I never know which one is being used.

There's one that goes from 1-7 (?) where one is the least rare, 7 the rarest, and another that goes from 1-7 (?) where one is the rarest and 7 the least rare. NO?

So, it looks like there are not just two, but eight different rarity scales

I haven't looked at the web page that is linked above, however, there are multiple scales, going in either direction, based on numerous formulas or logic steps and some of them even make sense!
