The level of success in removing green spots on a modern copper coin would depend on what is causing them. It could be due to a residue such as PVC or it could be corrosion. A residue likely has not bonded with the surface of the metal and could likely be removed. Corrosion could be reduced and prevented from becoming worse, but may still leave evidence in the form of discoloration of the surface. We would have to see the coin to determine for certain what may be done with your coin.
