Morgans 1884-O Mint Mark or SOLID PERIOD

Hi! I bought a roll of 1884-O Morgans and when I checked them out, half of the mint marks where a solid O like a large period. Is this common. I'm new to coin collecting. Thanks marchas45

This look is somewhat common for 1884-O Morgan Dollars. It is not something distinguished by NGC. If you want further information on varieties of Morgan Dollars I would suggest “The Comprehensive Catalog and Encyclopedia of Morgan & Peace Dollars” by Leroy C. Van Allen and A. George Mallis. This will give you die specific information about each date and mint mark.
