Does anyone collect Concept $

9 posts in this topic

As a rule, I don't but I bought this one ( a rather cheap piece ) because I thought It a better design than the SAC.

I handed to a friend to look at and it wound up with a finger print on the Obv and the Rev.

So ignore them and tell me what you think.

Not something I collect, but I will say that many of the designs floating about would have made a nicer dollar than what we got stuck with.

that is cool... wouldn't it be called a pattern rather then a concept.... or, are patterns coins that did eventually become a design? I like it. Where did you find this...... I also like Patterns though I don't own any... Not yet atleast.. This is a very interesting area.....

I had seen A few that had been graded by ICG and they were selling around $100.00 at the time.I found this one raw on ebay and sniped it for around $30.00.

I think the design is great and although I collect Sac's For My 2 year old,I don't think the Sac is all that attractive.

Mine's a PCI MS68 and like you, I love the design. The thickness is twice that of the SAC too and the design is truly what should have been used.

I believe the Gallery Mint produced about 1,500 of this and 1,500 of the Statue of Liberty (same reverses). Some are also dated and minted in 1995 with a slightly different devices.

There are copper platchets known of these and some other misc. errors.

Neat "coins".

Lucy, they're "Concept" dollars and not patterns because they were not sanctioned by the Mint and were for idea presentation only- kind of like an open competition.
