Unrealistic scores - Cameo Quarters

1 post in this topic

What is the best way to request score corrections? I have used the link that is provided in the Registry [Request Score Correction] where you can have your "requests" reviewed on 2 separate occasions over a week apart, to no avail. Is posting in this forum the more accepted manner to make score correction requests?

I was requesting score corrections for 2 Proof Cameo 68 "*" Washington Quarters that are way under-rated in the cameo series. Here is the information that I previously sent. A review and reply would be appreciated.

Coin #1 - 1953 NGC PR68*Cameo.

a) Whether this relates to a TYPE SET score or a DATE SET score.

DATE SET - Washington Quarters 1950-1964, Proofs

b) The specific SET, SLOT and COIN where you noted the issue

SET - Andy's Proof Quarters; SLOT - 1953 25C CA; COIN – NGC 1625680-025, PF 68* CA http://www.collectors-society.com/regist...opleSetID=22179

c) LINK/URL to the score details for that slot

d) The relevant scores and market values (to your knowledge) of the coins

e) Any general comments you have about why you think this scoring needs to be changed and to WHAT it needs to be changed.

The 1953 PR 68*Cameo coin has a pop of 9 with 13 higher (all 69 Cameo). There is a spread of 301 points between the grades of 68 Cam and 69 Cam; however, a grade of 68*Cam only receives 43 points above the grade of 68 Cam. For a coin with: 1) such a low pop (9) and 2) only 13 graded higher, one would think the point value for the 1953 graded 68*Cam would be closer to the mid-point of the spread between the 68Cam and 69Cam; or, the point value for the PR68*Cam should be approximately 350 points rather than 244 points it is currently assigned.

Coin #1 - 1964 PR68*UltraCameo.

a) Whether this relates to a TYPE SET score or a DATE SET score.

DATE SET - Washington Quarters 1950-1964,Proofs

b) The specific SET, SLOT and COIN where you noted the issue.

SET - Andy's Proof Quarters; SLOT - 1964 25C CA; COIN – NGC 1654158-041, PF 68* UC http://www.collectors-society.com/regist...opleSetID=22179

c) LINK/URL to the score details for that slot

e) Any general comments you have about why you think this scoring needs to be changed and to WHAT it needs to be changed.

The 1964 proof 69*UC has a pop 5 with 64 higher (all 69 UC). There is a spread of 261 points between 68 UC and 69 UC; however, a grade of 68*UC only receives 17 points above the grade of 68 UC (from 59 to 76 points). Again, for a coin with: 1) a very low pop (5); and 2) only a limited number graded higher, one would think the point value for the 1964 PR69*UC would be closer to the mid-point of the spread between the PR68UC and the PR69UC, or the point value should be approximately 190 points rather than the 76 points it is currently assigned.

Thanks, Andy
