Double Die Reverse 1907 High Relief $20 Saint Gaudens?

2 posts in this topic

I was wondering if I could get some second opinions on whether or not I am seeing things before I send a coin in for grading. To me it appears that there is clear double die lettering in United States of America on this coin. This variety is not in the current Edition of the Cherry Picker's Guide, has anyone seen this before? Unfortunately I am unable to attache pics to these posts, but I can email a pic to anyone.

Thank you,

G.R. Brown

The High relief St. Guadens coins had to be struck three times to bring up the design. The coins were divided into 1,000 batches so that the coin could be struck with the same set of dies after the partially struck planches were annealed. I have my doubts that you have anything unusual, but it's worth a shot to find out.
