In 1972 it was considered fashionable in the coin collecting hobby to aquire "Blast White" coins such as the one you have shown. I think $3.20 was a bit below numismatic value but in terms of silver bullion price, the original sale was 1 cent below melt! 893whatthe.gif

The average price of silver was $1.55 in 1971
It seems it was about 2X melt by the graph you sited.
