How is a coin given a Pedigree?

Can a collector send in coins and request they be given a Pedigree of there choice? Example you recieve family members coins and want there name as the Pedigree for the coins. Just Curious. Thanks.

You can request a pedigree at time of grading or on a reholder submission. The standard is that a name appears followed by the world "COLLECTION," sometimes abbreviated "COLL." Please leave room for this in your pedigree request.

 

NGC assigns pedigrees at its sole discretion, and will not assign pedigrees that fail to meet our requirements for market acceptablity (e.g. unusual names, unconventional spellings, names of common geographic locales, names already used, names of numismatic references or authors, etc.)
