"Scheduled for Grading" M.I.A.

2 posts in this topic

What's happened to "Scheduled for Grading"? The Order Status screen used to show "Received" for a couple of days (up to maybe a couple of weeks for Economy orders). Then you'd see "Scheduled for Grading" for most of the waiting period, followed by a relatively brief "Quality Control," and finally "Shipped."

Now the status is "Received" for most of the time an order is at NGC. Moreover, it often stays that way right up until it jumps straight to "Quality Control," skipping the "Scheduled for Grading" step entireley. When "Scheduled for Grading" shows up at all, it's usually a cameo appearance of no more than a day or two. And that's not the kind of cameo we're looking for around here.

This certainly isn't a big deal. Compared to doing the job right or doing it quickly, this is a low priority. But is it necessary? The benefit of the old way was that each order that was "Scheduled" showed you which of your coins were out and for how long, without your having to dig up the paperwork. But you can't see which coins are included in an order that only shows "Received."

Thanks.

The amount of time a submission is held up in a particular part of the process will always vary depending on volume and the type of submissions received during times of high volume. So, for example, right now submissions are spending greater time than usual in the 'Received' status due to the volume of submissions that require special handling (like 20th Anniversary Eagles) before they can go to the next step.

Normally a package will be opened, have its basic information entered (Account number, Service type, number of coins, value) and the submission goes to the next step pretty quickly where the individual coin detail is entered.

It is always our first priority to open and enter the basic info for all packages on the day they are received. If volume of packages is high and those packages require special handling, the submissions will not move on to the next phase of the process as quickly.
