1956 Franklin Proof Type 1or Type 2

2 posts in this topic

I just purchased a complete collection of the 1956 NGC PF68 penny thru half dollar. They are in the older NGC holders. I noticed that the franklin doesn't have marked Type 1 or Type 2. My question is....is there a plain 1956 Franklin that isn't either a Type 1 or 2? and what is the diffence between those types? Thanks

The easiest way to tell is that the Type 1 has four feathers on the left wing and the Type 2 has three feathers. Often the type 1 is described as the “weak” eagle and the type 2 as the “strong” or “buff” eagle.
