How to read some chapters from Bowers' book on the California Gold Rush for free

2 posts in this topic

For those of you who haven't been there, www.coinbooks.org is the website of the Numismatic Bibliomania Society, a club devoted to books about coins. In addition to their quarterly journal (the Asylum), they maintain a web site and offer (free) a weekly e-mail, the E-Sylum.

The E-Sylum provides a great venue to ask research questions about coin books or if you just need a page from the catalog of an auction that was held in 1954 in Switzerland. Plus, authors frequently post about their upcoming books and often give E-Sylum readers the first chance to buy the book or an opportunity to get a deluxe edition. The NBS website has an archive of the E-Sylum that makes for hours of great reading!

Also, Dave Bowers posted some chapters from a draft of his book on the California Gold Rush (click on Research). It's some really fascinating material. It makes me want to dig deep in my pocket and buy the book.
