Question about Minnesota DDR's

3 posts in this topic

I have recently found four Minnesota D DDR's #1. I have read that PCGS is grading these varieties. When I asked NGC they said no.

Is this a mistake? I belong to the Collectors Society and only use NGC to grade my coins, I do respect the work they do. This just doesn't seem right. I want to have these coins graded, but it is important to have the proper designation on the slab. Is this policy going to change or was I misinformed.

This was my answer

Dear Mr. Brown,

Thank you for your inquiry. We do not recognize this variety, so we

will not designate this variety when we grade the coin.

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me.

Regards

How can I find out if the Cherry Pickers Guide is going to list an FS # ?

They were quick when it came to the Wisconsin extra leaf variety.

Is this all about the politics of who is promoting the variety?

There are many varieties listed in the CPG that you need a microscope to see, these varieties are no less important.

The only way NGC will recognize these is if they are given an FS #.

I guess I will have to join PCGS to have these graded.
