Unusual 1970-S Small Date Lincoln Cent

6 posts in this topic

We received back from PCGS a 1970-S MS64RD Small Date Lincoln Cent. It is a mint error and saids "Filled Dies Obv/Rev). The letters and date are fine but on the reverse the America one can only read the bottom part of the lettering.

- What can you tell me about the coin and its value?

Can't tell you much, but it looks like a weakly struck coin from the image you have up. Were the dies perhaps grease filled?

Since grease filled dies are common, and the errors from them typically garner no premium, I'd venture to say that the coin is worth only your usual MS64 money for the small S type. 50 bucks?
