My first Bustie

Hello all

 

It’s been forever since I’ve posted on a regular basis and longer still since I made

a coin purchase. I’m celebrating my return by posting my newest

acquisition.

It’s an 1835 Bustie I picked up for my 7070 type set. It’s a little worn and I

think there is evidence of an older cleaning. You can see the original color

around the stars, inside the hair, letters, shield on the reverse - anywhere there

is a small crevasse. All in all, I like it. I think it has retoned nicely and in hand

it is a shade or two darker than my photos. It will go well with my type set.

I like it very much and, unless there are hairlines I am missing, I'm not certain it has been cleaned. Nice pickup!

I don't see any hairlines at all. I guess I assumed it was cleaned because most of

these have been.

Well I'm happy to hear that you all give it an original stamp. I really like it and would have kept it either way, but hearing that made my day!

It's probably just an accumulation of dirt/grime that has stuck in these areas.

And very normal for a circulated coin. Unless there are hairlines present, and with the color I'm seeing on my monitor, it's very natural looking to my eyes.
