CUNI coins brown??

2 posts in this topic

umm, okay, help me out here. I am not a huge fan of slabbed coins, and only have 1 in my collection. browsing eBay, I stumbled upon this coin, which NGC graded as MS64BN. I know this coin is a CUNI (75% copper, 25% nickel), which gives it a natural "silver" color, just like a US quarter. I had always just assumed that the designation BN (and RB and RD) were strictly for copper/bronze pieces. Why would a CUNI coin be designated as BN??
