Brotherman IS HOME

Hello Folks-----Just got a PM from Hays. He is wore out but home. Wants, naturally, for me to thank all of you for the prayers and concerns. And to tell you that he will be slow in posting. I think it is safe to say that his shop is being remodeled---he is getting more space to work. This was already planned before his hospital stay. He is still worried about his WYNTK thread. I will tell him to post it only when he is feeling better. They did more tests on him yesterday. And, apparently the results were favorable. He just needs rest at this time. I guess that the medical term for him is he is "CONTROLLED" and "STABLE" at this time. For me, I would ask that you continue to pray for him. At this time he has a continuing problem that is not going away. He needs the thoughts and prayers still---believe me. I will let him explain, if he wants to, upon his return. We all thank our God so far that he is at least home. Bob [supertooth]

Hello all,

We are still in the middle of expanding our gallery so I’m not completely up

and running, but I had my nephew set me up long enough to check email and

post to you all.

I want to give my thanks to all of you for your well wishes and prayers. I’m

a diabetic and I wasn’t taking care of myself and it caught up with me. I’m

back on track now and my family polices my food intake and exercise routine, so

I should be fine. I’ve missed a lot lately but I know the mood around here

has shifted a bit. We are all passionate about this hobby and passionate

people’s blood boils from time to time. Still I think we have a core group of

really nice folks as evident from the supportive posts I received. Thanks again,

I’ll be back in about a week - I hope!

Take care of yourself and listen to the loving advice of your family poke2.gif

Hello friends,

I’m still not back to the boards entirely just yet. We have been expanding our

art gallery. It’s a LOT of work as well as a huge mess, but it will be worth it.

We have needed the extra work space almost since day one. For fun I made

a little 60 second movie to show you all. Another 3 or 4 days and we should

be done - fingers crossed.

To keep costs down on the remodeling our whole family has been working on

the new room. We’ve had to leave the plumbing, electrical, and AC stuff to

the pros, but that still left a ton of work for us! The wall separating our gallery

from the store next door was done by the landlord.

A check cashing place is moving into that space but they only needed a 300

sq. foot office front. They also got access to a bathroom in the back of

the property by way of a hallway. The leftover space (about 400 sq. feet plus

a bathroom) became our new work area.

We had to install the wall that encloses my office and door as well as hang

the cabinets, paint, etc. We kept the old carpet from the previous tenant - it’s

ugly and stained, but this is a workroom after all. We bought most of the

cabinets from a salvage place for about 1/4th the cost of new stuff. Our

kitchen cabinets, counter, and base though new were purchased at another

place that sells discontinued stuff.

With all the work we are doing and the few frugal cabinet purchases we made

this remodeling job is still costing about ten grand! I know that’s not that much

to many of you but for a family owned business it is TIGHT! Fortunately our

rent isn’t going up that much. I think the check cashing place is paying out

the nose for their space so the landlord gave us a break - that’s good

news.

I’m most excited about my office. It’s VERY small - 8’ x 10’, but I can setup

my easel and paint without fear of being interrupted. For the past few years

I painted in the front window and every customer that walked in wanted to

touch my painting to see if it was dry - IT DROVE ME NUTS!

Anyway, I know this is boring stuff but I made another little movie that shows

our progress. The place still looks like a hurricane went through it (as EZ_E

put it), but we have gotten a lot done.

Man, that does sound annoying. Glad to hear that you got a better set-up. thumbsup2.gif
