Opinions on Pics please

14 posts in this topic

When I started collecting coins I didn’t realize that it wasn’t one hobby –

it’s TWO! Photography, as it turns out is a frustrating endeavor that slips in

under the radar. I’m still struggling with it as evident in my pics here. I

need opinions on which pic is better:

PICTURE A

PICTURE B

Admittedly neither one is great. In Pic A I used one light source – in B I

used two.

I think picture A offers a little more detail. These pics aren't bad. They are significantly better than what I have been able to produce. If all ebay pictures were this good it would be a HUGE improvement!

By the way, the coin isn't too shabby either thumbsup2.gif

What Type of photo program are you using?I used NERO on your coin pics.

Whoa! That looks better Maul!

I used MGI Potosuite, but what did you do to it in NERO?

Hays, reduce the image size to about 450x450 so we don't have to scroll back and forth.

I hit HOT PIXEL FIXER, Then JPeg artifact remover,Then Autofix Image.

I could have sharpened the image but I didn't want to go too far.

I got the Nero program when I bought my external Sony DVD Rw.

I also have Photo impact 8 but it has TOO much stuff and I can't ever get satisfied with my pic.

Thanks Maul, I'll try to find that program. It can't fix all my photo issues,

but it looks like it can help.

do you have a DVDRW,If you don't I would suggest you check out the SONY.

I got mine for aprox $110.00 and NERO came with it.These were selling for over $300.00 not that long ago.

I did also purchase an Internal USB 2.0 with it to speed the file transfer rate.

I like the frost. I've tried a lot of things and still don't know what I'm doing.

1 light, 2 lights, 3 lights, reveal bulbs, ott lites, sunlight, room light, distant lighting. ummm...moon light???

try everything, takes a few hundred shots and you'll be amazed at what you produce.

edited to add: oh..and yes, tilting the coin to catch the light without flooding your photo field with light.
