You can hardly see anything behind that crappy tone. I don't like it one bit.
Forget about the crappy toning....Peace dollars are notorious for CRAPPY TONING.....Except for my beautiful green toned reverse.......DOH foreheadslap.gif .....Anyway back to the ? at hand.... The ONE and what caused it....Anyone know??

It is very common for peace dollar dies to wear to the point that the reverse lettering is blurry. This appears to be the case here, with this coin. It could also be grease in the dies, as well. The dark toning and the terrible image quality don't help either, of course!
