Jefferson Nickel error found

3 posts in this topic

I found this error on the reverse of a 1971-S proof Jefferson Nickel

It looks like they start to cut in the letters then stopped and started again fresh in a new position.

The object is as high as the other letters.

The object is only seen inside the "U".

It terminates at the same place the other letters end not at the rim.

It is way to clean to be a chip or a crack.

There is complete seperation between the object and the U

In my estimatoin it is tool cut.

Interesting find Glen. If a few others are found, we'll need to come up with a coin name for it. I can't think of any offhand. Congratulations! 893applaud-thumb.gif

I got a 1969 mint set in the mail today and the 1969-D nickel is a 3-2-6 stepper! It shocked me when I saw it. Too bad it wasn't a full six stepper, though! That was my nickel find today.
