coin dipping

There are effects of the dipping that could make it no grade with NGC but not necessarily so. The problem would be if the process left marks of an improper cleaning which would be excessive hairlines or scratches indicative of abrasive mechanical cleaning or if the dip itself had caused chemical damage which would be called environmental damage.

If you are questioning whether it would grade with NGC, I would suggest submitting it for NCS Details Encapsulation. If your coin is acceptable for NGC grading, you will receive it back in an NGC holder and if it does have signs of surface problems, you will receive it back in an NCS holder with a details grade.
