1876 (CC) Fine Reeding 25c

Three collars were used for the 1876-CC quarter dollars. The fine reeding collar (153 reeds) is actually the most common, despite Walter Breen's claim that it is rare. Larry Briggs' book on Seated Liberty Quarters provides a bit more information.

 

NGC does not apply this designation routinely, only when a customer submits a coin for VarietyPlus service. For that reason, we've designated just a few, and the small certified population should not be misinterpreted as rarity.
