Moist Slabs?

2 posts in this topic

I've got a few slabs that apear to have some sort of moisture in them. It looks exactly when you press a drop of water between two panes of glass. It's ain a very thin layer. Is this post-NGC error, maybe being that the slabs aren't tight, or does NGC control the humidity and is it supposed to be there? Just wondering. And also, do you think this would be a problem in the future? I sure hope not.

What you are referring to, we have also nicknamed a “wet mark” but in point of fact there is no moisture inside your holder. Occasionally, the inner core will abut the other clear shell, and creating a gray mark where they meet. While this is not intentional, our holders are made to very exacting tolerances and these marks occur because of minor variances in the molding process. Often they will lessen over time, and the inner core can even be slightly repositioned by a subtle manipulation.

NGC uses several means to control humidity in our facility, including a state-of-the-art climate control system and dehumidified air which is used to clean our holder prior to encapsulation.
