stgecko
thanks and you all will be the first to see the set once it's completed. I'm going to a local coin show the last weekend of this month and I plan on showing off my set, as it is. I'm in a small town and from what the local collectors tell me I'll be the only one showing the early commem's. I might bring the moderns but most of mine are in Prestige sets and they aren't always easy to carry. I'm so excited to go to my first show! I will let you all know how it goes and maybe I'll even get a chance at a coin or two.
TomB
This is a Gallery Mint Museum piece struck specifically for the 1999 ANA and presented to exhibitors and judges. It is 38mm, which is the size of a silver dollar, and weighs 1.5 ounces of silver. Therefore, it is pretty darn thick. Only 150 were produced and it came with a deep maroon presentation box with gold leaf fringe and maroon velvet lining-

bsshog40
That's a neat Piece there Tom!! Anything that is ANA special issues seem to have some pretty good value to them also. A while back I was trying to find the 87' and 92' Redbooks (ANA Special Cover) as I try to collect these also. I could never find them. That's a great piece to have!! bsshog40
Nice Comms there Stgecko!!! Like the looks of that Huguenot!
stgecko
That Huguenot is an interesting coin. Did you see "William the Silent" on the obverse? I also love the ship on the reverse. It's a ship from the Netherlands and the people the coin represents are the Walloons. There's an interesting story on each of these early commemoratives that I read about before I buy each one. There's just so much history with each one of these that make them a joy to collect. I hope my rambling made a little bit of sense. hehe

Mike, congrats on the 1950 proof Frankie. That's a nice looking coin, and it looks like it has some cameo contrast. BourbonTrailer, good luck on your crackout. I would be extremely surprised if it did better than a 66Cameo, but you never know. Rons, fun '49-S. (thumbs u Pendragon, congrats on the '06 gold! (thumbs u Lee, that's an attractive Iowa. 123cents, good looking circulated CBQ. (thumbs u Chad, good looking crusty CBH and Pilgrim. (thumbs u Stgecko, congrats on the Hugo and all the BTW's. rbrown4
Some very nice Dimes and Cents, congrats. I recently announced that I had completed my Buffalo Collection that my Dad started, but upon converting from my father's Whitman albums to a Dansco Album, I am embarassed to say that the set is not complete. (he had some plugs in there, arggghh, that I never noticed until I began this exercise. Anyways, I am now dilegently trying to complete the set and with the help of Tom B and jgrinz, it should not take long. Here is my latest addition that was missing, a 1917 D, compliments of Tom B. More to come. Thanks, Rey Edited May 19, 2008 by rbrown4
