Feels good to get back into the hobby after a year off from not buying anything but new US Mint releases.

I think it can effect the surfaces. And would get Bagged if sent in. I would post a new thread and see what the more knowledgable think.

The 1C coin is in a NGC MS64 BN slab....hmmmmmm

I'm just stunned at the moment. I was trying to win another coin and ended up winning this 1982 Large Date Zinc Cent in MS67 for $15 AFTER shipping. This is a Pop 16 TOP POP cent! I didn't even realize what I was bidding on at the time! I thought it probably had a pop in the hundreds and I wasn't even sure I wanted to bid. Now I'm estatic!

Edited to add: I can't read a chart straight. It's a Pop 129 with 16 finer, But this is still a big win IMO. I'm still exceptionally pleased.

Don't you just love it when this kind of stuff happens?! :cloud9:

Can we back up a couple of pages, please?

Fletcher, when you said "copper" in your 20 cent piece post, did you mean as in J-1412?!

BTW, do you guys realize that the 1804 quarter that he posted has a total mintage of less than 7000 pieces?

A couple of recent purchases.

As you can tell from the different shades of blue background, the color is off in the picture of this 1833 bust dime. The reverse picture is more indicative of how the coin looks in hand.

Here's an 1892 Columbian half. See this thread for closer pictures of some doubling on the reverse.

Nice coins, everyone. Harvey, sweet Mercs!! I like the 1884 CC Morgan, as well! Great story behind that one.

My latest is a circulated $5 half eagle which kind of matches its 1836's cousin.

Yes Bob ... nice catch :)

:o That is a High R6 pattern!! (worship)(worship)(worship)

Any idea how many of the 1804 quarters are believed to still exist?

My guess would be around 600. However, I have been having a heckuva time finding one that doesn't look like it was worked over by an SOS pad. Even this one isn't as crusty as I like them, but it is the nicest collector grade 1804 that I have seen hit the market in a while ...

:)

The 1804 quarter and 1796 quarter have essentially the same mintage, but the 1804 is much tougher to find in higher grades than the 1796. While both coins are relatively "plentiful" in AG3 and with damage, they both disappear once you get to VG10 with largely original surfaces. My knee-jerk reaction would be that there are fewer than 600 or each coin remaining, perhaps even closer to 300-400, and that mid-grade pieces that are largely original might be only a few dozen each.

Fletcher,

What's amazing is "where are YOU finding those fantastic Bust Quarters " !!!

I've always wanted an 1804 quarter - your's sure is nice.

Another new addition in care of my friend BROADSTRUCK, a choice

1909- P Half in a PCGS AU 58 holder.

This is an upgrade for me, and my AU 55 slides into a lower tier set.

My other NGC 58 stays put in my better set.

As far as where I locate them ...oh, here, there and everywhere as they say.

I've found a few more upgrades that are being shipped to me as I type this -

so - when they are in hand - I'll post the images.

I caught it too - but thought I'd respond to your question first.

Bob,

Fletcher's tastes in coins runs to the very esoteric - mintages - type - and high grades.

Yes, anyone who's been involved with coins for any amount of time realizes the rarity [ and the quality ] of all of Fletcher's coins.

Personally, I'd love to sit down with Fletcher and view his collection at great legnth.
