Something smells fishy ...

Looking at this coin makes me go "hmmmmmm".

 

At first glance - 1842 8Reales, but it has medal alignment! Looked through Krause and didn't see anything that would indicate that it should be anything other than standard coin alignment. Did I miss anything? Fake?

To the best of my knowledge, those coins were made with a medal turn.

 

A medal turn is in fact, far more common in foreign coins than a coin turn.

I attributed that to a bit of an off-center strike, or just poor minting. Zacatecas Mint was not too greatly concerned with quality in mid-1800s. It appears to be silver and no other material can be seen "bleeding through" the worn part of the eagle.
