Why are coins bodybagged because of a scratch?????

There is no reason a coin that was in circulation a long time should be BB'd, as long as there is no intention to deface it. Absent a big crossed X, TPG's could easily knock the grade down a full level-- Fine to Good, etc. Even scratched mint state coins, if they could have occured in a bank counting machine or jammed coin extruder or knife opening of bag at the bank, or cut by a staple on the bag or roll, would still seem to merit an MS-60 grade. If there's confusion at ms60 on these sight-unseen, add the word scratched. No big deal..

My basic assumption is ALL COINS are scratched at some level, if only microscopically, and some should get much lower grades for their very big scratchs.
