Toning and value and grading

2 posts in this topic

I am just about to submit a bunch of coins for grading and noticed that the two Sacagawea (2001) coins have toning on the reverse. These are proof coins and still sealed in their mint packaging. My question is; does toning reduce the likelihood of a high grade?

Thanks

Light, unobtrusive haze or toning is acceptable on proof coins. Once the thickness of haze or toning is unattractive or hinders the clarity of the mirrored fields, then the grade will be affected.
