1963+1964 Proof Set Envelopes

2 posts in this topic

I have a 1963 and a 1964 US Mint Proof Set, and I really like the coins, but I'm afraid that the sealed cellophane envelopes type that the sets come in may be damaging the coins. Should I remove these coins from their original holders?

Thanks,

Zach

The original mint packaging is not the best for long-term storage. In this case of the cellophane envelopes used during the early 1960's, the packaging is not air-tight. The result is these coins often develop hazing residues. This hazing has the potential to permanently stain the surfaces of the coins.
