A PCGS Collector's Club expert grader sells half dime

I would have to say he's right. He does know a 'little bit' about grading coins. I can see all those PCGS specialists he referred to are very helpful.

true_grade, I like your signature! Sorry about the 893offtopic1.gif, but for every decent coin dealer I've dealt with in my area I've dealt with four bad ones, and there ain't that many!

A little test I've done in the past at shows and shops:

Buy a "generic" raw coin at their price and grade, then take it out of its packaging and put it in a different style holder (if at a show-have a buddy (preferrably female or a kid) take it back to the same "dealer" after a few hours or if from a shop wait a week or so), then have them look at what has suddenly become some metamorphic freak and has lost a grade or two just by leaving their table/counter. 893frustrated.gif

Oh by the way, this little test will not increase one's receiveing of Christmas cards from the "dealer" community. laugh.gif But, it will help you find out whom to do business with in the future!! cool.gif

PS Or if you really want to open a can of worms and have money to burn.........do it with slabbed coins..........just buy a common date "cheap" MS64 and crack it open....then take it back and watch it no longer come close to a MS64. And yes I know it was not their original MS64 grade, but they didn't seem to have a problem with selling it at that grade!! 893Rant-Smilie-thumb.gif

Did that once! Well, once that I know of. I was selling off a box of coins to a local store-front guy. He insisted one of my Mercury dimes was not FSB, but he offered me what I paid for it so what the hey. Anyway, a few months later I wonder in, and There's my FSB Merc, still in MY 2x2, MY handwriting, MY FSB designation, with an FSB price on it. I proceeded to walk out and haven't been back since.

Oh well, a few months later..........that just added more money to it!

It's even more of a pisser when they can't even take the time to reholder it. Can I take a guess "he" weighed about 500 lbs and you wouldn't leave your dog alone with him.
