I would guess none. Damage, harsh cleanings and PVC are the main reasons to bodybag a coin. As long as you submit problem free coins, there should be no bodybags.

Basically the question is relating MORE towards the NOOB submitting coins than the actual coins itself. Speaking as a NOOB I really dont know the criteria that is acceptable OR NOT acceptable to NGC before it is body bagged aka nicks bag marks tone and genuineness of the coin even. The one really bothering me is the 1878cc which has a nick on the rim - I know they allow 'minor' issues to a certain point and where that point is I certianly dont know. All these coins were broken out of TPG slabs and I allowed them a generous 2 point drop in the grade from the break out as the TPG are less than what I woud consider elite. These graders grade insanely high and I would be happy with a two point drop in grade to procure them in a NGC holder. OF COURSE the nick was not seen until removed from the holder. news.gif

The answer is IN grin.gif

001 1878 7TF REV OF 78 - MS62

002 1878 8TF S$1 - MS63

003 1878 7/8TF S$1 - BB Improper Cleaning

004 1878 CC S$1 - MS62

005 1897 S$1 - MS61PL

The answer is obviously ONE. Unfortunate but true

003 1878 7/8TF S$1 - BB Improper Cleaning

My question is: Would they have slabbed it if it was a "proper cleaning"? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

PCGS would grade cleaned coins, NGC is much more hesitant, ANACS fallback is the net grade.

Are you serious that PCGS would slab this ???

It is a clean ms64 too with 5 tailfeathers showing one of the most

I think - Is there a designation for 6 ???

No, TT was being general. I've seen many cleaned coins in PCGS holders. In NGC holders too. They must have been "properly" cleaned though. 27_laughing.gif
