Do NGC coin registration numbers ever get retired ?

4 posts in this topic

What happens to registration numbers?

Do they go away if a coin gets re-slabbed, assuming the old tag WAS returned.

I presume (maybe incorrectly) that a reslab from NGC to NGC maintains the original

number, but what about NGC to "Other House(s)" ?

I have a couple of numbers that I believe (used) to be valid, but no longer show up.

thx, GAB

When certification tags are sent into us, the grade associated with the tag number is deleted so that the coin no longer shows in our census or certification verification system.

The details of the original submission are saved, however, so in effect a deleted certification number is "retired," and cannot be used for another coin/submission.

Reholders and designation review submissions retain their original certification numbers.

Thank you for the explanation.

Can any of the original submission details be made available on current and/or past

registration numbers?

thx, GAB
