Percentage of "Perfect" coins

There are no set percentages of coins that grade 70 at NGC. We grade the coins what they grade. While it may appear coins coming from the mints are perfect and will grade 70, the reality quite often is that hits, hairlines, scratches, spots, planchet problems, and other factors done at the mint after striking hinder a lot of coins from what is required to grade 70. While these problems occur inside the mint, coins removed from the original mint packaging can develop these same problems much easier then those left in the original packaging, so I would recommend that you send the coins in the original packaging when ever you can for grading to ensure the highest grade possible.
