1899 S Africa Pond

4 posts in this topic

I have a 1989 South African Pond that was also struck with the year 99 on the obverse. 130 of these coins were produced when the British intercepted the 1899 dies engraved for the ZAR to stop their ability to produce their own currency. Paul Kruger had 130 of the 1898 Ponds produced and then struck the obverse with the two 9s to prove they had currency and they maintained their sovereign status. This coin is one of only two graded by NGC as MS 63 with none higher. I am told this coin is worth a min of US$110,000 to US$130,000. Any comments or interested buyers?
