Adios! Long Jeffs! Late-date Jefferson registry set for sale!

3 posts in this topic

Hi All – Well, I’ve pulled the plug.

I’ve decided to change my collecting focus on late-date (post-1970)

Jefferson

nickels to strictly a subtype set.  Thus,

I’ve made some hard decisions and made a few meager selections for my “type

set” and I’m letting go of the rest!  So,

below you will find what I have for sale and my prices for each coin.

I’ve tried to gauge my prices on the basis of auction trends, relative

rarity, and the quality of the coins themselves.

If you wish to see a photo of my coins, please visit my

Hoot’s Long Jeffs registry set (linked in my Signature line below) (which will

be going bye-bye after this sale).  Please

read my description of any particular coin that you are considering.

It will help you with a vision of the coin, perhaps more so than any

photo, as photos of coins of these late-date

Jefferson

nickels are very tough for me, especially those that are brilliant and very low

relief.  If you have questions, then

please ask.  My email is hoot@neptuneinc.org,

or you can PM me.

Shipping is $3.00, no matter what coin you may buy or how

many you may buy.  If you dislike the

coin when you get it, then I’ll be happy to refund your money.

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

A tremendously pretty coin with highly reflective

A few stray marks limit the grade.

Comes with former PCGS insert (MS64 FS also) # 90080779.

1989-P

2502264-003

NGC

MS66

6FS (6-6-6-6)

with NGC/ 0 finer.

1989-D

2504385-004

NGC

MS64

5FS (6-6-5-6)

$15

A coin that I’ve long kept simply due to the pretty

toning.  Delicate blue with

orange and quite fetching.  Only

a tic on the 6th step under pillar 3 limits this coin from 6FS.

1992-P

2027561-003

NGC

MS65

6FS (6-6-6-6)

$35

An extraordinarily pretty coin with

even golden toning over the obverse and just a hint of a developing

blue with russet toning on the reverse.

An absolute perfect match to the 1993-D.

Dead ringers for each other.

1993-D

2027561-005

NGC

MS66

6FS (6-6-6-6)

$25

See description of 1992-P, above.

Slightly better surfaces confer the 66 grade.

1995-P

1832235-009

NGC

MS66

6FS (6-6-6-6)

$150

Brilliant and semi-prooflike.

Very attractive.

1995-D

2504554-030

NGC

MS66

6FS (6-6-6-6)

$150

A perfect match for the ’95-P with only the

slightest hint of reverse rim toning.

1996-P

2502198-007

NGC

MS66

6FS (6-6-6-6)

$80

An absolutely lovely, mild-golden toned piece with

infusions of azure blue.  One

of the most attractive late-date Jeffersons I own.

Once graded with PCGS as MS66FS, cert. # 90114541.

1996-D

2504385-005

NGC

MS66

6FS (6-6-6-6)

$80

Common as flies in the PCGS pop reports (5 and 6 FS),

but fairly uncommon with NGC 6FS, with only 6 graded at this level and 2

higher.  Very nice coin and a

perfect match for the ’96-P.

1997-P

1832235-012

NGC

MS66

6FS (6-6-6-6)

$225

An uncommonly well preserved piece and very

attractive with nearly satiny surfaces.

NGC has only graded 4 with 1 higher at this level, while PCGS has

graded 27 with 1 higher.

1999-P

2502264-002

NGC

MS67

6FS (6-6-6-6)

$500

An amazingly uncommon piece, with 2/0 NGC and 9/0

PCGS.  A lovely coin with

brilliant white surfaces that are highly reflective.

2000-P

2504554-031

NGC

MS67

6FS (6-6-6-6)

$550

I’m always amazed at the rarity of such

well-preserved late-date Jefferson nickels.

This piece is nothing short of stunning and resembles a satin

strike of 2005.  Populations

tell the story with 2/0 NGC, 7/0 PCGS.

2001-P

2026175-013

NGC

MS66

6FS (6-6-6-6)

$20

A very pretty and highly reflective piece that is

quite eye catching.  Common,

but pretty.

2001-D

2026175-012

NGC

MS65

6FS (6-6-6-6)

$15

This is a coin that I truly believe is undergraded.

It’s a very fetching and highly reflective piece with a slight

hint of orange-gold toning.

2002-P

2502198-008

NGC

MS67

6FS (6-6-6-6)

$150

This coin is simply superb.

It’s a pop 1/0 coin at NGC and a 48/0 at PCGS.

I believe it’s a coin that’s under-rated for relative rarity

and the only coin with the 6FS designation at its grade level.

Bright and highly relfective.

2002-D

2026175-014

NGC

MS65

6FS (6-6-6-6)

$45

A coin that pushes the upper end of the 65 grade.

Superbly preserved and very appealing.

Only a hint of golden toning infuses the rims.
