Any help for recolored coppers?

2 posts in this topic

Is there any help for recolored copper coins-- proof and MS? Can NCS help in getting back the original color? I got a couple of coppers in ANACS slabs-- proof and MS (the MS coin having a nice tone and luster) which says recolored. Any response will be highly appreciated.

The surface of a copper coin is probably the most volatile of the commonly encountered coin metals. As a result, there is typically nothing conservation would be able to do to make an artificially colored copper coin correct. There are exceptions, but as a rule, artificially colored copper will still be artificially colored after conservation.
