NGC Grading: acceptable rim damage?

Hi,

We do not grade any coins that are severe enough to be called rim damage, however, a coin with a light cut, mark, or slight rim bruise may be graded and encapsulated by NGC. It really all depends upon severity and isn't something that is simple to give a black and white definition. I can add that if it is a definite eyesore(the cut, mark, etc..) and immediately stands out or is a rim filing, those pieces are easy calls to not grade.

Thanks,
