Malamute
All three are silver, but why three different patina's? One is silver, black and tan-like. The camera can't seem to capture the colors but they are all totally different. GoldFinger1969

powermad5000
Morgans can turn basically any color. Your far left one has closest to original surfaces and is typically what a Morgan dollar should look like. As for the other two, they are in various stages of toning. Actually your 1882 looks like it was cleaned in the past and is retoning. The toning of Morgans can go full rainbow from silver to yellow, red, green, purple, and black. While I am not a huge fan of toning on my Morgans, I am not entirely adverse to a light toning on my MS ones, and if I have any that are well circulated, I prefer them to be either the light grey or the darker. Here is one of my CC's with original dark toning. Edited Wednesday at 05:02 AM by powermad5000 more information Malamute
Malamute
Thanks for the reply! I thought the black one was something special, I only have a handful out of several hundred Morgans. powermad5000
