Her Eyes are melting.Dr Mary Edwards Walker Quarter 1 1

Hello I found 3 of these Dr Mary Edwards Walker 2024 P quarters with some irregularities but what i am most curious about is the eyes. I have looked at other quarters and the eyes looked normal. What type of defect is that and how is it produced like that? also 2 out of the 3 weigh 5.67g but 1 weighs 5.71. Why the weight differance? I am  ony posting pics of 2 of the 3 coins due to file limits. Any input on what you think about these coins would be helpful..

    I looked at each of the Dr. Walker quarters (both "P" and "D" mints) in the two 2024 mint sets I recently received, as well as the 2024-S in my 2024 proof sets, and each of the coins appeared to have the same folds around Dr. Walker's eyes as those shown in your images. They appear to be part of the coin's design and were likely based on photos of Dr. Walker. Please post an image of this portion of a coin you consider to be "normal".

   The faint extra images around the star in the medal and the letters appear to be strike doubling, a.k.a. machine or mechanical doubling, which is caused by movement of dies that are slightly loose in the press and is extremely common. See Double Dies vs. Machine Doubling | NGC.  The small blobs between the "C" and "E" of "CENTS" and on Dr. Walker's shoulder are die chips, which are also extremely common. Neither of these minor defects are considered to be "mint errors" by serious collectors, and coins exhibiting them are generally worth no premium, notwithstanding the contentions of internet hucksters to the contrary.

   Although the standard weight of a 1965 to date copper nickel clad quarter is 5.67 grams, there is a tolerance (permitted deviation) of plus or minus 0.227 gram, so a coin weighing 5.71 grams is well within the normal range. (It is generally a waste of one's time to weigh normal looking coins that you have no reason to suspect are counterfeit. I have collected and studied U.S. coins for over 53 years and have never done so.)

   You are overanalyzing these coins by using excessive magnification. Significant mint errors should be observable to the unaided eye. Significant die varieties should require no more than 5-7x magnification. "With few exceptions, NGC will not attribute die varieties that require greater than 5x magnification to be clearly recognizable." What is a Variety? | NGC. I admit to looking at coins using a 10x loupe, but no higher magnification should be necessary other than for authentication purposes.

I agree with Sandon on this. Sometimes if you look at a painting to close all you see are brush marks.
