Thin roll and strike error? 1 1

2023P Dime. Thinner than normal. Obverse and reverse strikes are strange. Can anyone help me?

This is a tough one.  I am going to go out on a limb and suggest the consistent wear around the periphery -- and the fact the coin is 11 years old indicates this was PMD.  This is not a product of the Mint.

One of our forensic pathologists may be able to weigh in with a precise diagnosis.

Since there isn't even a proto-rim on your coin, the odds that it came from the mint looking like this are nil. It's just an extremely worn coin. Given the date, and the amount of wear, it did not happen in normal circulation. The likely explanation is that it was either caught in a machine of some sort that wore it this much, or it was done deliberately. Either way, it didn't leave the mint looking like that.

On a side note: thank you for providing cropped pictures of both the obverse and reverse, as well as a side view comparing it to a normal coin. That was very helpful.

This is highly unnatural wear for a coin that is only one year old. Hard to tell how it happened, but some type of machine or mechanical device had to be involved. It appears thinner because the proto rim is completely worn off. Hard to say exactly what it was to bring a one year old coin down to a G in terms of condition.
