What is the likelihood a mint-fresh coin released into circulation in 1988 -- looking like this, would not come to anyone's attention until 2024? It is still able to be identified as one cent and as such is still acceptable as legal tender, but I could see some merchants being not willing to accept such a heavily damaged piece.
