Sandon Posted September 12 Share Posted September 12 The images are rather poor quality but, based on what appear to be an unusually shiny surfaces and areas of exposed copper, your coin is a normal 1944 cent that was plated. This was frequently done as a high school science experiment decades ago and might have been also done to create either a novelty or to pass as a 1944 "steel" cent. A weight of 2.99 grams would be within tolerance for a normal brass cent (3.11 grams plus or minus 0.13 gram).
