I don't think it is struck thru grease. I think it is badly environmentally damaged. It just looks "dirty" to me if that is a way to put it.

If it was struck through that much grease, major portions of the design elements would be missing, barely visible, or partially visible as half normal. This one shows all of the design elements just under a layer of crud. Just my humble opinion.

I will try to take a better picture of it crop it so you just get that coin. The weird thing to me is there really isn’t any crud on the coin. I agree with you. I think it’s environmental. I just don’t know what would cause it? It’s just weird looking it’s smooth to the touch like there’s nothing on it

Based on the current images, it appears that the coin is worn, perhaps from being carried as a pocket piece or used extensively in transit systems. It is unusual to see any small dollar coin with this much wear.

This just isn't what a coin struck through foreign matter (generically sometimes called "grease") looks like. See https://www.error-ref.com/?s=struck+through+"grease". Note how the coins shown there are at or near uncirculated condition and show mint luster notwithstanding the blurred detail due to the foreign matter. This coin just shows extensive wear, plus some surface damage.
