Skin oils react very easily with coins especially copper coins. The 1958 Lincoln cent is in uncirculated condition but is a very common coin and worth perhaps $2 or $3 retail price. The 1897 IHC (Indian Head Cent) is well circulated with porous surfaces which indicate it may have been buried in the ground at one time. Value is maybe 25-50 cents retail if you can find a willing buyer. Popular Post Sandon Posted August 6 Popular Post Share Posted August 6 I'll reiterate that you should never hold a coin that you think may have collector value in your bare hands, except by its edge if you must. I recommend that you rinse the 1958 cent off with clean water (distilled if available) and pat (do not rub) it dry with a clean, dry tissue to reduce the risk that it will develop fingerprints, spots or other discoloration, which would cause it to lose most of its value. It should be stored in a proper coin holder such as a mylar (not vinyl) coin flip. In the future, please crop your photos so that they show as little as possible of the surface surrounding the coin.
