Tmoney11
Are these state imprints done individually at gift shops or whats the deal with these?
Greenstang
They are aftermarket counterstamps. You can get a complete set of all the states or individually. Thy add no value to the coin except as a novelty.
Tmoney11
Greenstang, thanks and unique but not a fan of destroying a good Lincoln Cent. Can’t imagine if this would be a rare coin and to find that on it .
Greenstang
True Tmoney11, this considered damage to the coin.
powermad5000 Posted yesterday at 07:48 AM Share Posted yesterday at 07:48 AM These counterstamps go way back. I had a set of all 1976 Lincoln Memorial cents that were 50 states in a cardboard display with each state on the map had a circle with each states counterstamped cent in the cardboard map. I am not sure what I did with this set (I think I let my brother have it) but I do still have one of these cents with the outline of the lower 48 counterstamped on it. I haven't ever seen a scarce cent counterstamped in this way as those who did maybe were wise enough to check what they were doing beforehand.
